New, returning students help build the next generation of educators

The new school year is well underway, and we are celebrating milestones and achievements with our new students - and those returning.

In August, we welcomed 211 freshmen to the IU School of Education. This year’s freshman class boasts many increases:

The class also saw a 50% increase in out-of-state students, a median high school GPA of 3.7, and earned $82,000 in scholarship funding.

Overall, IU School of Education students were awarded a total of 532 scholarships, totaling over $1.5 million.

Over 80 students are participating in our award-winning Global Gateway for Teachers program, which allows students to fulfill their student teaching requirements in Chicago, the Navajo Nation, or in 20 different countries around the world.

We continue to be active across the globe in many other ways through over 50 partnerships with schools and organizations, including Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Thailand’s National Institute of Administrative Development, and Beijing Normal University.
