The Robert Q. Berry, III, Equity Award, given by the Virginia Council of Mathematics Specialists, honors mathematics education leaders who catalyze change by centering their leadership on equity, recognizing those who empower historically and presently marginalized students, foster belonging, and reimagine math classrooms as spaces of brilliance and opportunity.

Ashley Powell, an Ed.D. student in math education, is on the editorial team for the new edition of “Teaching Mathematics Through Problem Solving K–8, Expanded Edition.” The book bridges research and practice to show how problem-based instruction can transform learning.
